Victorian communities and environmental volunteers play key roles in the ongoing protection and conservation of our coastal landscapes.
To support these community groups and their activities, funds are now available through Coastcare Victoria Community Grants Program. The grant is open to any incorporated community groups (including Coastcare and Coast Action) groups, as well as indigenous organisations, community service organisations and clubs and education institutions. The Grants Program is a partnership between Australian Government's 'Caring for our Country' and the Department of Sustainability and Environment's Coast Action/Coastcare'.
Grants are available in three categories;
Small Grants - Funds of up to $5000 are available to engage community groups in coastal conservation projects. Small Grants are available through an ‘open round’ process - groups can apply for this funding at any time until the end of 2010.
Indigenous Grants - Funds of up to $20,000 are available to all community groups including indigenous community organizations, co-operatives, trusts and organizations wishing to increase the involvement of indigenous Victorians in coastal management. Small Grants are available through an ‘open round’ process - groups can apply for this funding at any time until the end of 2010.
Medium-Scale Grants - Funds of between $5000 and $50,000 are available to community groups and networks wishing to deliver substantial and strategic coastal projects which align with Victorian and national environmental priorities. Round 1 of Medium-scale grants is now open, and will close on Nov 30, 2009.
Applicants are encouraged to discuss their proposed project with a Coast Action/Coastcare Facilitator.
