CoastKeepers and HarbourKeepers
CoastKeepers and HarbourKeepers are initiatives of the marine sector of the National Parks Association of NSW (NPA~Marine). CoastKeepers creates opportunities for volunteers to take part in activities that protect, restore and explore the NSW coast while HarbourKeepers has the same objectives for Sydney Harbour.
CoastKeepers volunteers work along the foreshores, on the islands and in the water. Volunteers complete bush regeneration activities including weed clearing and tree planting. They complete land-based and underwater clean ups to remove marine debris that threatens NSW wildlife. CoastKeepers divers are involved in the mapping and monitoring of aquatic weeds.

CoastKeepers coordinates a state-wide survey of 50 marine fish. CoastKeepers trains volunteer divers to complete the CoastKeepers Fish Survey and has established Fish Survey hubs along the NSW coast. The CoastKeepers Fish Survey provides data that informs marine management decisions and educates the dive community in marine conservation issues.
CoastKeepers is involved in educating the community in marine conservation. CoastKeepers worked with TAFE to create the HarbourKeepers & CoastKeepers Statement of Attainment in Marine and Coastal Conservation that educates students in marine ecology, conservation, bush regeneration and Fish Surveys. CoastKeepers has created an activity-based workshop and online learning resources to educate primary school children in catchment management issues.
